If you want to act or perform in a play, Wageningen will offer you several possibilities to do so. Student associations sometimes have their own acting groups, of which some have a performance once or even several times a year, and there are special theatre associations (for students or for people living in Wageningen) enabling everybody to actively enjoy their passion. The Dutch professionals will perform in theatre the Junushoff, in the very centre of Wageningen. This theatre offers a divers programme, with something for everyone.
All student flats of Idealisi and the student houses in the centre of the town receive the programme booklet of the Junushoff annually. This year Pete Philly and Perquisite decorated the cover of it. They performed a wonderful show in the big hall of the theatre. It was in this very same room that Kofi Annan was invited as well last year and in which he addressed the audience with his speech for the opening of the academic year. The marvellous play ‘Equus’ was performed here as well. This play was wildly discussed in the media, since the main character, the famous ‘Harry Potter’ (Daniel Radcliff), could be seen naked upon the stage.
The Junushoff will offer you a wide range of music, dance, cabaret and theatre performances, all of which you can discuss in the bar afterwards, whilst enjoying a cool beer or a good cappucinno. The CJP pass will reduce the prices of most of the sometimes quite expensive tickets and I can say from experience that it is definitely worth ‘investing’ in a good play once or twice a year.
