There are loads of pubs in Wageningen. You can find them especially around the market square. Two of those pubs are listed in the ‘top-100 best pubs in the Netherlands’: ‘De Vlaamsche Reus’ and ‘De tijd’. De Vlaamsche Reus, better known as ‘De Vlaam’ is well known among students, and for many students it is their favourite pub. Besides these pubs, several of the student flats contain their own pub, you can go dancing in cafe het Gat or join the quiznight at cafe the Doctor. You never have to look long to find a nice place to have a beer. There is a place for everybody: whether you like a nice quiet pub where you can sit and talk or you prefer a place to go dancing!
Most pubs close at 2 am, the dance halls don’t close until 4 am. At the student unions the party goes on till the last person leaves.
Don’t forget to join in with the ‘Palmintocht’. It is an event that is held every year in November, during which you can enjoy the first Palm beers of the year in several different pubs in the city. And what about the blues pub brawl in January? A three-day festival with lots of (free) blues concerts in ten’s of pubs. There is also the Rhine Town Jazz Festival, during which jazz bands play in pubs and on the streets everywhere in the city.
